Greek Revival Style Home

English born The Greek Revival Style Home became well known by Benjamin Henry Latrobe, America's first fully trained architect. Latrobe was well noted for his renditions as well as his work in the additions of the United State Capitol and White House.

In the early nineteenth century Greek Revival took New England and later the Midwest by storm. Its gabled front facade is the most prominent feature of this style, although some homes can be much more ornate than others.

Common Greek Revival features may include:

      Rectangular Shape with Gable Front

      Large Triangular Pediment

Ionic, Doric, and Corinthian Columns and Pilasters

      Sidelights and Transom at Entry

      Cornices and Dentils
