Passion and
desire. That's what comes to mind when I think of the Tuscan
Home Style. Passion for living a fulfilling life and desire to
create a wonderful environment for celebrating family and friends.
Isn't
that what the Italians are well known for-family, feasts, and
celebrations? Therefore, shouldn't the Tuscan kitchen be one of the
first and foremost rooms to consider when planning an authentic
Tuscan style home?
A
large Tuscan farmhouse
table to gather your family
around, ample countertop space for preparing your meals, warm and
inviting natural
colors and earthen materials
are always a must in kitchens of Tuscan home décor.
In
Tuscan kitchens, this day and age, you will often see large islands
with massive overhead pot rack wrapped with grape vines, herbs, and
native flowers from the Tuscan hillsides. It is even quite chic to
use a little chicken wire or even paint a Tuscan Countryside scene on
one or more cabinet doors to achieve that Tuscan farm house ambiance.
Traditionally,
though the cabinetry was somewhat inornate and very rustic. Natural
slate, cut stone or colorful glazed terra-cotta wall tiles are
commonly seen in the backsplashes under the rustic dark-stained
kitchen cabinetry.
The
ceilings in the kitchens and other rooms of the Italian Villas and
Tuscan House Plans often have dark rustic hand hewn beams separated
with infilled plaster.
The
walls often become works of art with their frescoes (painting in wet
plaster) and wall
murals of astonishing Italian
countryside scenes. And quite appropriately so, as Michelangelo
Buonarroti (1475-1564), most famous for painting the Sistine Chapel,
is a Tuscan native. How appropriate to incorporate a beautiful wall
mural in the décor of your new Tuscan house plan.
Homes
in and around Tuscany depict many of the same features of the Country
French Style, such as verandahs and porticos for outdoor living and
dining, clay tile roofs, terra-cotta floors, arched windows and
doorways with wrought iron railings and accents throughout the home.
Whether
you happen to be of the Italian descent or not, building a Tuscan
style home can bring out your desire for a wonderfully passionate
lifestyle!
Tuscan
House Plans
I
have personally selected the following Tuscan house plans for their
beautiful renditions of the
Tuscan and Italian styles. While reviewing each of the Tuscan house
plans, you will see how well the elements most important to the
ambiance of the homes in Tuscany
and Italy are demonstrated.
Tuscan
Style Furniture and Accessories
Furniture of the
Tuscan home style is often dark or painted and may or may not have
wrought iron accents. The wood is often
rustic and aged looking in a more casual
setting and smooth and richly
carved in more formal areas.
You
may also find beautifully hand painted furniture in Tuscan and other
Italian style homes. Tuscan farmhouse tables are a definite must in
any Tuscan style home.
The
period pieces and styles are often mixed
as is in many of the European Countryside homes. Therefore, it makes
decorating a Tuscan style home quite simple.
Fresh
baked bread, wine, pasta, olives, oils, vinegar's, and aromatic
cheeses are always a staple in the Italian kitchen. Therefore,
decorative containers, dishes, baskets, and pottery designed for
these types of foods in mind are easy
decorative accents to display.
If
you are dreaming for an authentic Tuscan style kitchen and bake
often, then you must consider having a brick
oven built or at least an oversized Tuscan style chimney
hood over your cooking range to take its place aesthetically.
Sunflowers,
herbs and lavender bundles either in vases or
hanging from the ceiling are a popular floral accent to add to a
beautiful Tuscan home style.
Tuscany
is also well-known for its terra-cotta
planters, urns and pottery. You can't go wrong displaying these
wonderful treasures in and around your Tuscan style home.
